A Synopsis of The Trade
In a world where the remnants of humanity’s advanced civilization lie in ruins. However, beneath the lush canopy of the Brazilian rainforest, BrightFeather, a young adult Kahreen—humanoid felines shaped by ancient genetic manipulation—finds herself at a crossroads. The story begins with her curious exploration of “The Mounds,” a taboo site linked to the cruel “Ancient Masters,” whose legacy remains shrouded in mystery and fear.
After an accidental encounter with a shiny gold coin, BrightFeather returns to her village, only to face the judgment of her grandmother, Brook Willow, and Flop Ear, the leader of the Scouts. As punishment for her curiosity, she is exiled to embark on a dangerous scouting mission with high stakes: succeed and earn her place as a clan scout, or fail and face banishment—or worse.
Determined yet anxious, BrightFeather chooses to journey to Spirit Top, the legendary Mount Roraima, said to be home to a tree that reaches beyond the sky and holds special significance for Spirit. As she ventures into the unknown, she navigates both treetops and the jungle floor, encountering strange creatures and narrowly escaping perilous situations, including a close call with a river maw.
Her journey takes an unexpected turn when she discovers a winding brown path littered with mysterious objects from which creatures emerge. Drawn by curiosity once more, BrightFeather follows one such creature to a breathtaking glade filled with vibrant flowers and a serene waterfall and stream.
As BrightFeather’s adventure unfolds, she grapples with her fears and the weight of her clan’s history while uncovering truths about herself and the world around her. Will she embrace her destiny as a scout or succumb to the dangers lurking in the shadows of the rainforest?
Join BrightFeather on her quest for discovery, self-identity, and connection in this captivating tale that intertwines myth, adventure, and the echoes of a forgotten civilization.
